Happy Holidays!!

     I hope you all had a Happy Holiday. Today I will be picking up my Daughter from her Dad to have our Christmas celebration. This was the fist year we have been apart on Christmas. It was strange not having her wake me up at 6am excited to open gifts, and even stranger to have her come home at 7pm tonight to do what we would traditionally do on Christmas morning.  As much fun as she had at her Dads and Gammie's house, and I made sure we did our tree decorating and baking together, before she left, if I know my Daughter she will be in tears tonight because she will feel she had missed out on our Traditional Christmas she has come to know for the past 9 years.  Divorce can suck! (for the kids) Now its time to start new traditions I guess. =-)

I hope you have a Fantastic rest of the year! Please be safe out there. Just because the Holiday is over, I know a few of use still hit the Malls to do more shopping and traveling, leading to more criminal activity than any other time of the year.

Happy Thanksgiving To You!

FALL...Its next to my favorite time of year (Summer) But I must say the Holidays in Fall are my Favorite.
I'm looking forward to our traditional Thanksgiving with my Parents, my Grandparent, my Sister and her family and my kids.
This year I feel very blessed and have a lot to be thankful for. My Divorce is almost at its one year mark. I know it sounds a little weird to be thankful for such a thing, but if you knew the man you would understand. I have had nothing but blessing after blessings enter my life this year. One. No one or myself is holding me back from growing into a better person and expanding myself. I feel I have more strength and courage and standing up for myself FEELS REAL GOOD! I'm thankful for my Family and friends who stand beside me. I'm thankful for my families health, and having them here with us this holiday season. I'm thankful for my strong kids who have been though a lot and still manage to do well in school. I'm Thankful for the roof over our heads and the food on our table every day. I'm so thankful for everyone I have come in contact with this year. You have brought nothing but JOY into my life. I'm thankful for meeting Paula Mccune, January 7th at a Networking event and introducing me to Damsel in Defense. Last but not least, Rick, for always being there for me and my kids and making me smile every day. :)

With this Holiday season upon us.  I want to remind you that there is a lot more crime out there at this time of year. Unfortunately it doesn't make a difference if your in a "Good Area" or it's during Daylight hours. Criminals find the Holiday season a great oppertunity to target people who are distracted by the hustle and bustal of the Holiday season.
 
Here are some safety tips for you while your out enjoying this time of year.
While Shopping;

• Shop during daylight hours whenever possible. If you must shop at night, go with a friend or family member.
• Dress casually and comfortably.
• Avoid wearing expensive jewelry.
• Do not carry a purse or wallet, if possible.
• Always carry your driver's license or identification along with necessary cash, checks and/or a credit card you expect to use that day.
  
• Even though you are rushed and thinking about a thousand things, stay alert to your surroundings.
• Avoid carrying large amounts of cash. If it's all you use, don't keep it all in one place.
  
• Pay for purchases with a check or credit card when possible.
• Keep cash in your front pocket.
• Notify the credit card issuer immediately if your credit card is lost, stolen or misused.
• Keep a record of all of your credit card numbers in a safe place at home.
• Be extra careful if you do carry a wallet or purse. They are the prime targets of criminals in crowded shopping areas, transportation terminals, bus stops, on buses and other rapid transit.
• Avoid overloading yourself with packages. It is important to have clear visibility and freedom of motion to avoid mishaps.
• Beware of strangers approaching you for any reason. At this time of year, con-artists may try various methods of distracting you with the intention of taking your money or belongings.

  Also, When loading our vehicle try not to have your back turned so you can't see someone approaching you and If you plan to drop off your packages and heading back in to do more shopping, consider moving you car to another location. Criminals will notice you just loaded up you car with gift you spent you hard earned cash on, and burglarize your vehicle or worse, steal the wholes thing.

While Driving;

•  Avoid driving alone or at night.
• Keep all car doors locked and windows closed while in or out of your car. Set your alarm or use an anti-theft device.
• If you must shop at night, park in a well-lighted area.
• Avoid parking next to vans, trucks with camper shells, or cars with tinted windows.
• Park as close as you can to your destination and take notice of where you parked.
• Never leave your car unoccupied with the motor running or with children inside.
• Do not leave packages or valuables on the seat of your car. This creates a temptation for thieves. If you must leave something in the car, lock it in the trunk or put it out of sight.
• Be sure to locate your keys prior to going to your car.
• Keep a secure hold on your purse, handbag and parcels. Do not put them down or on top of the car in order to open the door.
• When approaching and leaving your vehicle be aware of your surroundings.
• Do not approach your car alone if there are suspicious people in the area.
• Ask mall or store security for an escort before leaving your shopping location.

I Hope everyone had a safe and enjoyable Halloween without to many tummy aches. My kids must have been sick to start because they were not much into trick or treating this year. which is sad for me because I don't have any candy bags to raid. Grown kids sure take the fun out of the Holidays. ;-)  I'll be better prepared next year.

So today Corporate sent out a message that they fixed the shipping rates for a win win for everyone.
I think they did a great job. It started out per weight of the Package, which would come out to $11-$14,  to a flat rate of $7 for a temporary fix. We had some complaints with the orders that were only $10.00. So... In an effort to find a permanent solution that works for customers, our teams and the Home Office, effective today, November 1, our new shipping policy will be a $5 flat fee PLUS 5% of the subtotal (pre-tax/shipping) of the customer's order. This means a customer with a $20 order (before shipping and tax) would pay $6 shipping total.
Also, starting today our Domestic Violence bundle Special for October is over and our New November Special is in Place. Check it out!

Halloween Safety Tips for Adults

  I wanted to do a quick post today sense Its Halloween Weekend, So I'm stealing a post that has been on my web page for a few weeks and post it here for you. There is a lot of info but there are some great pointer here that we sometimes forget and for some of us,  it hasn't even crossed are mind.

Parents of trick-or-treating kids can get so caught up in the fun themselves that they might forget some simple safety ideas that could keep everyone out of trouble. Having a fun and safe Halloween will make it all worth while!
If you take your kids to a sponsored event, like a safe Halloween thrown by your church or community center, make sure to keep an eye on them at all times. Even though it seems less dangerous, you are still in a strange environment full of people that you don't know. All it takes is a minute with your back turned to find your child gone.
Below are more common sense tips that can help adults keep their kids safe.

As bad as it sounds, this is just a fact of life now. Get on the internet and check your local state website for sex offenders. Almost every state has one, just do a search for your state sex offender site. Look up your zip code and it should have a list of registered offenders in your area that includes street addresses. Make sure that your kids stay away from these houses!

Know the route your kids will be taking if you aren't going with them. Let them know that they are to check in with you every hour, by phone or by stopping back at home. Make sure that they know not to deviate from the planned route so that you always know where they will be.
 
Trick or treating isn't what it used to be. In most cities it's not safe to let kids walk the streets by themselves. Your best bet is to make sure that an adult is going with them. If you can't take them yourself, see if another parent or two can.
 
Help your young child pick out or make a costume that will be safe. Make sure that it's fire proof or treated with fire retardant. If they are wearing a mask of any kind,  make sure that the eye holes are large enough for good peripheral vision.
 
Know what other activities a child may be attending, such as parties, school or mall functions. If they are going to be at a friends home, get the phone number and make sure that you've met the parents.

Make sure you set a time that your kids should be home by. Make sure they know how important it is for them to be home on time or to call immediately if something happens and they are going to be delayed.

Kids will be kids. Explain to kids of all ages the difference between tricks and vandalism. Throwing eggs at a house may seem funny but they need to know the other side of the coin as well, that clean up and damages can ruin Halloween for everyone. If they are caught vandalizing, make them clean up the mess they've made.

Some sick people find Halloween a great night to hurt cats. Explain to your kids that animal cruelty of any kind is not acceptable. Kids may already know this on their own but stress the point that it's not acceptable behavior. Make sure that they know that harming animals is not only morally wrong  but punishable by law and will not be tolerated.
 
Serve your kids a filling meal before trick or treating and they won't be as tempted to eat any candy before they bring it home for you to check. Check your local grocery store or craft store for Halloween cook books full of tasty treats on a horror theme for both kids and adults.
 
Make sure that if your child is carrying a prop, such as a scythe, butcher knife or a pitchfork, that the tips are smooth and flexible enough to not cause injury if fallen on. Make sure that costumes won't get in the way when they are walking, which could cause them to trip.

Teach your kids about not getting into strangers cars or talking to strangers, no matter what the person says to them. Explain to them as simply as you can that some adults are bad and want to hurt children, that they should never go into a house that they don't know, get into a car or go anywhere with a stranger. Also, tell them what to do should this happen, to scream as loud as they can to draw attention and to run away as fast as they can to someplace safe.
 
Be sure to show your children know how to cross a street properly. They should always look both ways before crossing the street and should only cross at corners or crosswalks. Make sure that if you have more than one child, they know to take the hand of the younger child when they cross a street.
 
Make Halloween a fun, safe and happy time for your kids and they'll carry on the tradition that you taught them to their own families some day!

Autumn

Were did The time Go?
It's been awhile, not that I didn't have anything to say but I don't have a computer to keep up with the Social Media World, so for the past month I try to sneak in time on my kids lap top.  ( shhhh ) Actually, they're pretty good about sharing it, they just need less homework! ( right... They would love that!)

Fall has arrived, though there has been plenty of Summer like days still. Like this week its been in the 90's here but I noticed today that the trees are starting to do their thing and change from their green leaves to the beautiful autumn colors I love so much.  This is a favorite time of year for me with the fall festivals and craft boutiques. I love seeing all the creative gifts and items people make and sell. I always walk out of there feeling like I need to run to Micheal's Craft Store and start crafting with my Daughter, and a lot  of the time I do. ( Run to Micheal's that is)

   I have one more festival this month in Littlerock, CA  before the real Holiday Season is upon us. I'm sure we will have a a "close date" on our Christmas shipping, meaning the last day to order gifts in time for Christmas, but I haven't received any word to when that will be but I will have it up as soon as I do.
 On that note we do have a New Item.  :-)  "Hot Lips" Stun Gun is now in Pink too! It's very pretty. Here I'll show you.  :-) 

Oooo Pretty!! :-) I like it.  And notice the new packaging....Hmmm Nice huh? We are moving up! Which brings me to another topic. Damsel in Defense is now 1 year new and we have over 1,000 reps. in fact I'm not sure if they are even counting anymore. They have been so busy that they have moved to a bigger location to hold more product and help get their shipments out faster and easier. Hooray for everyone!

New Web Site

Hi! I hope everyone has been happy and healthy. I'm sure we are all staying busy with fall fast approaching. Schools are back in session, summer festivals are coming to an end but Fall Festivals are ready to start and Holiday shopping is around the corner and a can't wait!

I'm now back to work at the school district, working with a Autistic child in a middle school this year and I'm doing sub work as well. My kids are in their new schools and have got the swing of things. While I'm sill trying to get used to all the traffic to all three, sometimes four schools. 8-p

I'm glad to say Thursday night on the square is over, as much fun as I have had, I meet so many great people and had great sales I am looking forward to the Holiday Season, stuffing Pepper Spray and Stun Guns in my and your family and friends stockings. (If they don't already have one, if so, the "Road Trip" and the "Holla At Me" is a must have for everyone on your list.) and all the fun Personal Protection parties.

I still have a lot of openings for parties through now to holidays but call or email me soon so you can get the date you want. Also tell your guys what you want for your stocking! This isn't all too girly that a guy can't have his own party. it will help him and his buddy's for their gift giving during the holidays
Another fun idea would be to have a Halloween teamed party while learning to protect yourself, or a Thankful your in my life, please protect yourself party. Summer is here!!

I hope everyone had a nice and safe 4th of July!  I was able to spend it with my kids, after a 4 day camping trip to the Kern River with just the adults. (woohoo) We had a a great time with friends and set off a few of our Safe and Sane Fireworks. Legal here in Palmdale. My son has grown out of the fear of the fireworks finally (age 14) and set off a few and my daughter had a good time picking the next one to be set off. =-)

Then the next day I held a booth at our local summer gathering at Thursday Night At The Square in Palmdale, held every summer starting the first Thursday of July through the end of Aug. and every week there is a new theme.  Its a great way to get out and meet friends, old and new, listen to live music, eat and shop.  I forgot to get pics this time but I'll be there every Thursday night and I'll get some then and post them.

So in the Damsel in Defense Dept. we have a new promo going on. Our "Collage Bound Kit".  Makes a great gift and helps you feel a little better about sending your baby off in the big world by themselves. Not to dismiss some good advice from Mom and Dad about the Safety.
Talk about:
Being Aware of their surroundings.
Follow their instincts and use common sense.
Let someone know where you are going and who with.
Use the Buddie System, especially if walking at night.
If you have to walk alone, buy Pepper Spray and have a Personal Alarm. (like the "Holla At Me" )  =-)
If their going to be at social events and drink, tell them to keep your eye on your drink at all times, Don't set it down less you don't plan to pick it back up.
And another one one I just learned from this site is "Put the word ICE (In Case of Emergency) into your phone with a parent or guardian name programmed with this code.  The authorities know to look for this code in case an emergency occurs and they need to get in touch with a relative."

Hi Damsels!!
I'm back from a small break from the norm and It couldn't have been better weather for us. We were at Leo Carrillo State Beach for a two night camping trip. I enjoyed to campgrounds enough to want to go again but I would make reservation sooner not 4 weeks prior. =-/ lol   The camp site we had (108) was OK. Privacy was good and if you walked to the edge of the site you had an ocean view. We we very close to the hiking trail and a family of coyotes that you only heard, Thank goodness.(I did have my Pepper Spray)  The site was Small, it had a almost flat spot for the kids tent and a not so flat spot for ours. We keep sliding down the blow up mattress, lol, This site would have work well for a motor home. But over all I would go back. Kids love the beach and the rock climbing to find the cave. I hear their tide pools are cool but we always were there at high tide. (better to surf) Next Time.

The day after we arrived home I worked as a Damsel Pro at an Elementary School Carnival in Aqua Dulce, CA. It was a lot of fun and meet a lot of really nice people and they really did a nice job on their game booths, prizes and silent auction baskets. I hope they invite me back next time.

So, The news in the Damsel World is that we are now at 700 Damsel Pros!! It is so fantastic to have us come together and stand up for what we find so important. Safety!!

I find it is imperative to get the word out, to all women and children that it is our right to protect ourselves, educate others to keep us from getting into dangers way in the first place and  Especially now that the crime has risen, according to a survey by the US Center for Disease control.

I know I've said this before and I'll keep repeating it. I know we have a lot going on in our lives and are over whelmed by all the thing we need to take care of,  but please take the time to stop, pay attention to your surrounding. Don't walk around texting. If you need to, do it in a safe place. Criminal know with in moments who their victim will be and its thous of us who are not paying attention to our surroundings tend to be a target.

The Damsel Momma sure have been busy! With new Starter Kits leading to new Rep Agreements. Product packaging and New and Improved Products.

 "Step Off" Door Alarm has new packaging. Those of you that have order most any of our items know that most come in a white box with our shiny pink logo on the top and inside is lined with black tissue paper, very feminine wrapping. Though I loved our special touch, this should be easier to pack in our kits, display and ship to you, our your loved ones.

"Road Trip" is New and Improved! Still has those great features that I just LOVE and I do love this tool.

Our new design specifications have updated the old model from a single bulb to a 3 bulb LED flashlight. The glass breaker now features a safety cap over the glass breaker and it now has an 85 decibel alarm as well! Wooohoo! 

And...As you can see new packaging as well. This I do like a lot better than our cute box because I found that the Glass Breaker Pins would poke though our box. =-/

-Someone who seems out of place for the situation or location.
-Someone who is in your personal space
-Someone that doesn't make eye contact with you
-Someone who displays inappropriate friendliness
-Someone who appears needy ("my life isn't going well, everything is all messed up, can you help?" me etc.)
-Someone who has physically aggressive body language
and finally...
-Someone that just gives you the gut feeling that they are bad news.

Wow!! Crazy! Ive been so busy I haven't been keeping up with my Computer duty's so I apologize.
We are now well over 500 Pros and with the April's Sign up Special that Mindy and Bethany are up to their ears in Rep Agreements and sending out all the new reps the Knight in Shining armor kits. So, I bet by the end of the week we could be up to 600 Pros!   Whoohoo!
We are growing so fast and people really love the Protection Party's and our Damsel Products. Yesterday, leaving the market, I hear a lady say "I just had a Damsel Party!"  Now there are only 4 Damsel Pro out here in the A.V. so my first guess on who her Pro is was easy. So, I did manage to get my STORE Open on my Facebook page.  Yes, a STORE. I was so excited that I can now make it a bit easier for my customers to get my products. so, you'll need to check it out. =-) But I do encourage product knowledge before buying any of the products. Had a busy few weeks. Love it!
We are now over 300 rep through out the U.S. and this weekend alone 23 new reps signed up. Damsels are working hard and are traveling to Gun Shows, Bridal events and local fairs all over the states to get the word out and bring Empowerment to you.
This weekend, Tracy, Darcy and I made it to the Shooting Fun Fair in Apple Valley, CA on Saturday, to show and sell  our accessory's. ;-)  I think it was a success. Meet a lot of wonderful people who really liked our mission.  On Sunday, Kathy and I had a beautiful (small ) table set up at the Rivera Country Club for the Festival of the Brides in Pacific Palisades, CA. Once again, Great people and a lot of Beautiful Gowns, shoes and accessory's. It almost made me want to get married again.
Our biggest selling item this weekend was the pink "Pack a Punch".  With the disable pin the 7.5 Volts and the built in recharge plug and of course"Pink", It is one of my Favorites too.

     March 3rds event went very well. Met a great bunch of lady's. Entrepreneur of Home Baked Beanies, Tracy Scott. I bought the cutest beanies for my daughter and myself that smell like cupcakes from her.  Bonnie Barnard and Pepe Eads, who are very involved in the community here in A.V and also is involved with Celebrating Home. I was invited to come and speak and show my wears in April for them.  The Fashion Stall with Michelle Stall.was another Entrepreneur there. Great bags and accessories for the refined women. I would like to get back in touch with her, we talked about a Zebra print Bag for me. Michelle is also a Keller Williams agent out here as well.  Entrepreneur Liz Cook with Toys,  naughty and nice, She has a great line and will do party's at your home and is working on her web site. Looking Forward to it Liz.
I was able to have my table set up next to Satoka Hanalka from Scentsy Candles, Mmmm Smelled good. and Miriam McDaniel from a new company Nerium International. featuring face cream with real science, real results.  That may also be something to look into, if our looking for a MLM company because they to are on the ground floor.
I look forward to working with them in the near future.

Productive day...Along with my "job" that I go to (which was insane today) and my kids, I Trained my first Recruit today!!!! So she can take this great opportunity and run with it. I think she is going to be a great Damsel in Defense Pro. She already has people interested in becoming Damsel Pro's and has events in mind. With her enthusiasm, everyone is going to have a blast working with her and she is going to go far.
Also...Back ordered "Hardcore" Pepper Spray is now in stock!  I ordered my back orders and some extra for my up coming events. I also ordered my widow decal. Whoohoo! so now you'll know who I am as I drive around town. Please say hello! Preferably not with the finger, I'll probably have kids in the car. =-)

This weekend Saturday, March 3rd . I will be at the Palmdale Hotel. 300 West Palmdale Blvd. Palmdale,  93551 from 11am-2pm. I will have a table set up and there will be a free lunch to the guest along with other venders you can shop and network with.  I was there in December and meet a lot of great people. ( It was where I meet my up-line Paula Mccune.

Today I picked up my D.i.D Shipment from the post office and it was beeping!

I thought to myself "Do I open it?" lol  Of course!  I couldn't wait to get my hands on the new stuff.

The beeping turned out to be the "Where's Yo Baby" Child Monitor. lol Some how the switch turned to the On position.

The item is really cool. I tested it out on my kids (they are 14 and 8 by the way) It has an adjustable signal from  a distance of 6 to 21 feet.  When the child goes beyond the set distance, the adult's receiver starts to beep, letting them know that the child is starting to wander off.  

Of course my 14 year old son just sat on the couch while I walked around the house and out to the front of the house with the Monitor, But it worked great!  

I'm thinking of sneaking the monitor on them when we go to Disneyland. That place can get crazy! lol 

 Along with the Child Monitor, I did receive the new item "Hot Lips"  I Love it! They are replacing the "Smell the Roses" with this one. Still a disguised stun gun but this has a Disable pin!

Disable Pin: The wrist strap is worn around your wrist and plugs into the bottom of the stun gun.  If the stun gun is pulled away from you, the disable pin will pull out, preventing the stun gun from being used against you.

Trained and ready to go!!

So, last weekend I went to my training with my up-line to other one of her recruits Damsel in Defense opening party's at his house.  Yep! His house.  He works in law enforcement with the K-9 unit.  I'm thinking Wow! this is great! I am in the best possible position to learn. Between my up-lines position in the DID business and her side-line like this gentlemen that  finds this opportunity a great thing, than my feeling about this opportunity is going to be nothing but spectacular.

He did a great job a presenting the line and the knowledge from his background was enlightening. With about 5 people at in DID party he made about 300 dollars in sales! and It didn't take very long.
My Up-line and I went over the Damsel In Defense Bible (Damsel Pro Manual) covering Ethics, Display of Product, Product Knowledge, Presentation, Marketing and Booking, Ordering, When and Where to sell (in some States it is illegal to buy and sell pepper spray and or stun guns) and Recruiting.

To be very honest, I have a ego regarding sales and party type DS company's. Mostly because I'm very shy and talking in front of people scare the shit out of me. Which is why I joined La Bella Baskets in July of 2011. No party's. No inventory. No quotas. everything is done online and of course word of mouth.  I'm still a LBB Consultant and enjoy the company and all the support and knowledge they give to me.  And...If I was not doing La Bella Baskets I would not have been invited to the Networking Event in January and I would not have meet my wonderful DID up-line and her sister-n-law at this event.

 Since being with LBB I have learned of my ego though Dani Johnson's book, First Steps To Wealth. It helped me look at sales and recruiting in a different light and realized I need to get the negative it out of my head if I was going to keep pursuing these opportunitys apposed to the "Job".

So after that being said and being trained on the company and there policy's I am even more excited to share this with everyone.  I went to work this week and mentioned it to a few girls and sold three pepper sprays, a "Road Trip" auto emergency tool.  On Facebook I have a girls ordering the "Hot Walkers"  1pound hand held walking weights with hidden Pepper spray. and a possible party booking. This in just one week!
